ROMARKETPLACE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do you verify that a seller actually owns the game they are selling?

  • We utilize Roblox's API to retrieve all publicly listed games from the user’s linked Roblox accounts. Users must complete a verification process to confirm they have access to the account before listing any games for sale.

What happens if a seller attempts to sell a game they don’t own

  • If a user attempts to list a game they don’t own, they will receive an error stating that ownership cannot be verified. The platform only allows the sale of public experiences, and users must ensure their game meets this requirement before listing.

How do you handle rollbacks if a transaction goes wrong?

  • The admins will have to submit all logs related to the transaction to Stripe’s Dashboard, and the platform will do everything possible to try to get the dispute ruled in our favor. If the dispute isn’t ruled in our favor, then the liability falls on the seller. However, the buyer will be banned (IP and possibly browser fingerprint) from the platform.  The platform also uses Stripe’s 3D Secure, which includes Visa Compelling Evidence 3.0, which means that in the case of a dispute for fraud, the liability falls on the credit network. The selling party can also require the buying party to sign a contract, which would allow them to pursue legal action.

What security measures are in place to prevent scams?

  • All ownership verification checks are conducted on the backend to ensure legitimacy.
  • Funds from the buyer are preauthorized before the transaction is finalized.
  • Either party can request a middleman, which the other party must confirm.
  • Users who have previously disputed transactions in bad faith will be permanently banned from the platform.

Can developers sell partial equity, or only full games?

  • Developers can sell between 50% and 100% of their game’s equity through the platform.

How are payments handled, and what payment methods are supported?

  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe Connect.
  • After a successful transaction, funds are transferred to the seller’s Stripe account.
  • Currently, the platform supports payments via credit and debit cards, but additional payment methods supported by Stripe may be available upon request.

What happens if a buyer or seller does not uphold their end of the agreement?

  • Either party can report the transaction for review.
  • Once flagged, the transaction will be frozen until an admin investigates.
  • Reviews typically take less than 7 days, as card networks only hold preauthorized funds for this period.

Do you assist with the legal process of transferring ownership?

  • No. RoMarketplace & IX Studio are not responsible for legal matters outside of the platform. Our services are limited to fund transfers, transaction security, offer management, and bidding facilitation.

Can a seller back out of a deal after initiating the acquisition process?

  • Yes, a seller can cancel the transaction anytime before the "Request a Middleman" step is confirmed.

What happens if a game is banned or taken down after it is sold?

  • Once a game is sold, RoMarketplace & IX Studio hold no responsibility for any bans, takedowns, or administrative actions taken by Roblox. The platform solely facilitates secure transactions, and all post-sale issues must be handled between the buyer and seller.

Can in-development games be sold?

  • Yes. Any valid Roblox experience can be listed for sale, including games still in development, as long as they meet the platform’s requirements.

How long does the acquisition process take?

  • There is no set time limit—the process moves at the pace that both parties agree upon.

What fees or commissions does the platform charge?

  • The platform takes a 10% commission if the agreed-upon final price is less than $90,000.00. If the final agreed price is above $90,000.00, then the platform takes a 6.5% commission.

What happens if a seller misrepresents game data, such as revenue or player metrics?

  • RoMarketplace & IX Studio are not responsible for misrepresented data. Buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence before finalizing a purchase, and many sellers are open to providing access for verification.

Can a game be reacquired by its original owner?

  • Yes. If the game is later resold, the original owner can purchase it again from the new owner.

Do sellers need to provide proof of ownership before listing a game?

  • Yes. Sellers must link their Roblox account to RoMarketplace, allowing the platform to retrieve and verify all their publicly listed games.

What happens if a seller refuses to transfer full permissions after payment?

  • Funds are not released until the game transfer has been verified.
  • For equity-based sales, we strongly encourage both parties to use a trusted middleman (approved by both parties) to ensure the off-platform contract process has been honored.
  • Your middleman can be your attorney or another mutually agreed-upon individual.
